ABOUT THE PROJECT

On A Shoestring draws on 72 oral histories which illuminate life in Manly, Mosman, Pittwater and Warringah in Sydney during the 1930s Depression. The information found in oral histories is generally not recorded in official publications and consequently is not known to future generations. Oral histories provide us with an insight into the intimacies and feelings experienced by people in their everyday life.
