HEATHER ROY

Our canoes improved as the years went on and eventually we had a very nice rowing boat... There were about three boats moored down there [Pittwater]. It was so clean and clear. We were the fastest on Pittwater. You know we were so fast at rowing. We had a very nice boat – and we were very fast at canoeing. In fact it used to take us about twenty minutes to either canoe or row from here to the other side over to Kuringai Chase. And sometimes we would go over there before breakfast and there was a track going up to the top. We’d climb that track and walk along the ridge till we came to a rock look–out, it’s a natural look–out. And we’d watch the sun come up over the ocean. You could just see over the top of this ridge... It was wonderful.
